What is Argon Welding?

Argon welding is a type of welding method used as a gas welding technique. Argon is used as a shielding gas in this welding method. During the welding process, argon gas is used to protect the welding area from the effects of atmospheric gases like oxygen and nitrogen.

Argon gas is commonly used in various welding methods, especially in Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding and Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding. Here are some details regarding the use of argon gas in these welding methods:

 1. TIG Welding (Tungsten Inert Gas Welding): TIG welding is a welding method that requires high precision and operates at low temperatures. A welding rod processed with a tungsten electrode is brought to the welding area, and argon gas is used to shield the surroundings. Argon gas prevents gases like oxygen and nitrogen from entering the welding area, thus enhancing the quality of the weld.

2. MIG Welding (Metal Inert Gas Welding): MIG welding is a faster welding method that operates at higher temperatures. Argon gas is part of a protective gas mixture used during MIG welding. This gas mixture is used to prevent oxidation of the metal and other negative effects during the welding process.

The use of argon gas improves the quality of the welding process, cleans the welding area, and protects the material against unwanted reactions. Therefore, it is preferred as a shielding gas in applications requiring precision and high-quality welding, especially in industrial processes.
