What is Ferrekom?

Ferrochrome is an alloy composed of the elements chromium and iron. Its chemical symbol is FeCr. The primary purpose of ferrochrome is to serve as one of the main components in the production of steel alloys.

One of the key features of ferrochrome is its high chromium content. Chromium enhances oxidation resistance and prevents rusting in the production of steel. Therefore, ferrochrome is used as a significant component in the manufacturing of stainless steels.

There are different types of ferrochrome, and they can have varying chromium and iron contents. High-carbon ferrochrome has a higher chromium content, while low-carbon ferrochrome has a lower chromium content. The usage of each type can differ to achieve specific steel properties.

Ferrochrome can also be used in the production of refractory materials, in the foundry industry, and in some chemical applications. Therefore, ferrochrome is an important alloy with a wide range of applications in industrial processes.
