What is Hot Rolling?

Hot rolling is a type of metal processing in which metal materials, such as metal sheets or bars, are shaped at high temperatures in a hot state. This process aims to shape the metal through plastic deformation and improve its properties.

The hot rolling process typically includes the following steps:

1. Material Preparation: The metal material to be processed is initially heated within a specific temperature range. This allows the metal to be more easily shaped.

2. Shaping: The heated metal is forged or subjected to the rolling process using a rolling machine or rolling mill to achieve the desired shape. During this process, the metal is subjected to forces such as tension, compression, and bending, causing it to change its shape.

3. Cooling: The shaped metal piece is typically hardened by cooling, often in cooling pools or by exposure to air. This helps achieve the desired mechanical properties.

Hot rolling is widely used in various metallurgical applications. It is particularly common in the production of steel and other alloys, as well as in the manufacturing of sheets, bars, and profiles. This process can help improve the density, durability, and other mechanical properties of the material. Additionally, hot rolling is a preferred method in the production of specialized products and materials used in the construction industry.
